Jessica attended the Opening Ceremony and “Moonrise Kingdom” Premiere at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival yesterday wearing a beautiful white dress by Alexander McQueen. Click here to see some pictures!

Jessica recently responded to a question on her Facebook from a fan asking what she would have been if she didn’t become an actress.

“I would have been a teacher. I love children so much. To be involved in the early development stage of a person, to build their confidence, teach them kindness, and make them feel important, is a noble and important job,” Jess wrote. (Source)

Jessica Chastain brings a shimmer of blue on the red carpet as she arrives at the 2012 Met Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

The 31-year-old The Help actress wore a corseted blue metal satin Louis Vuitton dress and Harry Winston jewels. The dress is made of a tulle crinoline and entirely hand embroidered with crystals and pearls and took over 200 hours of work. (Source)

Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn’t going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there’ll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. The film, based on the novel “The Wettest Country in the World,” is set in the Prohibition-era South and revolves around a pair of brothers in charge of a bootlegging gang.

The Help’s Jessica Chastain is in talks to join the growing cast of Iron Man 3, and the ubiquitous actress should know a thing or two about superheroics: She starred in six films last year—and even nabbed an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actress for The Help.

Chastain will reportedly take on the role of a “sexy scientist” who’ll conceivably go toe-to-toe (or is it brain-to-brain?) with Downey’s genius Iron Man alter ego, Tony Stark. (Source)

I had no idea that Gary Oldman even knew my name 3 months ago. I’ve been a huge fan of his work for years. Many of you know the story of how I burst into tears when he came up to me on the red carpet at Palms Spring. His performances have meant so much to me. They’ve been so inspiring. Reading what he wrote in the TIME magazine piece leaves me speechless. I can never find the words to truly express how grateful I am to be a working actress. The beautiful, kind comments that Gary wrote drive me to want to be better. He is far too generous, but I will work very hard to try and live up to what he wrote. I am forever moved and in awe of that man. xx

I found this really nice quote by Gary Oldman when he was asked about Jessica (remember that she was moved to tears when she first met him!) – here is what he had to say about her:

These are words that came to mind when I first encountered the work of Jessica Chastain, 30, during her performance as Salome in Al Pacino’s remarkable film of Oscar Wilde’s play. When I saw her I thought, “Al has made an amazing discovery!” In a sense, Al did discover her, although I have since learned that she is a properly trained, serious actress, a Juilliard graduate who has been practicing her craft for more than a decade.
